Modeling of the Beam-To-Column Dowel Connection for a Single-Story RC Precast Building

As widely known, connections performance under seismic loads can significantly affect the structural response of RC precast buildings. Within scientific community, an increasing number studies has been carried out on this topic, in light recent earthquake aftermaths all over Europe. Indeed, turned to be weakest part structures and their failure often provoked global collapse whole building. The present study aims at assessing behavior a single-story building terms implementing two different models beam-to-column connection, simplified refined one. A lumped plasticity approach is used simulate nonlinear column base. In order assess connection model, preliminary scheme with isolated single dowel validated by comparing pushover outcomes experimental results from literature. Nonlinear static dynamic analyses are performed 3D building, one simple model other mode. comparison clearly shows that differences negligible if limit state considered.
